Ballet - 

Ballet is the center piece to every type of dance.  It is graceful, poised, and structured.  In our ballet classes dancers are taught strength, balance, flexibility, and technical skill.

Lyrical

Lyrical style dance expresses spontaneous feelings and deep personal emotions through movement that attempts to show the meaning of music.  The dancers are taught a mix of jazz and ballet in ways that will move the audience to feel the passion of the story behind the song. 
 

Jazz

Jazz is a fast pace dance to upbeat music.  Dancers will learn to respond to their music's beat and rhythms with their bodies, allowing dancers to connect with the music. 

 

Tumble Tots - 

Tumble tots is a fun developmental class for young kids ages 3-5 years old to learn basic introductory gymnastics skills as well as following directions and taking turns.  

 

Tap - 

Tap dancing is a style of dancing in which the dancers wear special shoes with pieces of metal on the heels and toes.  The shoes make loud sharp sounds as the dancers move their feet.  Dancers are taught rhythm, musicality, counting and performance.

DESCRIPTIONS

Barre Fusion

Using the traditional ballet barre*, this contemporary class elongates and strengthens the muscles by combining Pilates and Ballet.  Feel like you have two left feet? Don’t worry! This workout has high repetition to perfect your movement over time. *a chair can be substituted for virtual classes

Pilates Flow

Based on the traditional principles from Joseph Pilates, this workout on the Mat awakens the mind-body connection building core strength, posture alignment, and flexibility.  Exercise bands will be used periodically throughout classes.

Tabata

Originating from Dr. Izumi Tabata, this Japanese scientist found in his study that a short high intensity workout has better results for the cardiovascular system. To warm up the body for the class, we will start with core exercises on the mat. To follow the traditional Tabata concepts, each exercise will be 20 seconds long with 10 seconds of rest in between. The focus is to move as fast as your body can to set your own goals.

Dance Philosophy is a dance studio located in Tehachapi, CA in the Golden Hills area. We offer a variety of dance classes for ages 3 - adult including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, pointe, contemporary, musical theater, acrobatics, dance conditioning and Pilates.
